The Challenges to Creating “A More Perfect Union”: Race, Religion, Diversity, Freedom

Oct 8, 2011

During his presidential campaign, President Obama gave speech titled "A More Perfect Union" that tells his own American story and addresses the racial issues and problems that have “stained” America’s history and strained the principles outlined in our Constitution. The President asserts “a firm conviction - a conviction rooted in my faith in God and my faith in the American people – that working together we can move beyond some of our old racial wounds, and that in fact we have no choice is we are to continue on the path of a more perfect union.” (download the PDF of the speech above)

Compare that to the thoughtful video, "We the People" that shows how through our history, race, religion, and intolerance are all knotted up in the in the fabric that makes up our imperfect union of the United States. Link to http://www.odysseynetworks.org/video/we-the-people
