Eastern Michigan Writing Project Draws on the EdCamp Model

Faced with the challenge of drawing practicing teachers to the university campus, Eastern Michigan Writing Project decided to pilot a popular new model for professional learning:

We are planning an “EdCamp EMWP” for October 24, using the popular EdCamp model of teachers meeting to spontaneously share professional learning based on the requests of the gathering. Our proposal for “State Continuing Education Credit Hours” reads: “Teachers across Michigan will rotate through four discussion groups and presentations on topics of Teacher as Writer, Teacher as Literacy Leader, Teacher as Literacy Advocate, Teacher as Digital Designer, and Teacher as Literacy Investigator. “
