Illinois Writing Project Celebrates National Writing Day and Launches Strategic Three to Five Year Growth Plan

Along with celebrating National Writing Day with over 100 teachers in attendance and launching a three to five year strategic plan, the Illinois Writing project embarked on responding to greater community needs and building upon a Family Academic Literacy focus.  "The 2014-15 Writing our Future: Family Academic Literacy Project NWP Grant to IWP was designed for families with children at Linne Elementary School in Chicago to participate in three family literacy writing workshops that replicated classroom writing and focused on narrative (Fall), informational  (Winter) and opinion (Spring) writing."  Additionally, the IL Writing Project worked to building capacity for its teachers and teacher consultants by increasing workshop capacities, focusing on researchng and the reading and writing connection.
