In an era of belt-tightening, layoffs, and other cost-cutting efforts, Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project continues to sponsor writing marathons to celebrate and support the work of teachers. Working with partners such as the journal Louisiana Literature, KSLU-FM, Southeastern Louisiana University's campus radio station, The Tennessee Williams Literary Festival, and the Greater New Orleans Writing Project during the 2015 NWP Urban Sites Conference, SLWP teacher consultants led a series of writing marathons during the year, coordinated the publication and broadcast the “release party” for “Finding Your Muse in New Orleans,” a collection of articles about writing and teaching writing.  By providing a year of writing/continuity activities, showcasing that writing through publication in various media, and celebrating authorship SLWP continues to support teachers despite limited resources.
