TX San Antonio Writing Project Invitational Summer Institute Goes Digital

As Site Director Dr. Roxanne Henkin says, the San Antonio Writing Project “made the decision to go completely digital in 2007, which means that everything about our site became digital.”  With the help of Technology Liaison Dr. Lennie Irvin, the SAWP provides access to a digital library of articles on multiliteracies, multimodal digital literacies, English Language Learners, writing process and professional development.  Together, ISI participants read Create, Compose, Connect!

TX San Antonio Writing Project Offers Mission San Jose Writing Camp

With funding provided by the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Texas – San Antonio, San Antonio Writing Project teacher consultants conducted a week-long summer writing camp for students in grades 4 to 6 in July, 2015.  The Mission Library event was one of three camps sponsored by SAWP last summer, designed to provide professional development as well as meet young writers’ creative and artistic needs--needs that are difficult to meet in school, where writing for standardized assessments has become a prime focus.

NV Great Basin WP focused on the reading/writing connection and provided its TC's with books, a magazine and use of iPads to explore researching and writing. "GBWP supplied participants with Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Down the Bones and Peter Roy Clark’s Writing Tool: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writers; the project also gave each a year’s subscription to The Sun Magazine." Due to its rural setting the NV Greater Basin searched for ways to keep the writing  and connections working.
